Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk (lukewarm)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 ½5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ cup mashed banana (about 1 large banana)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (very soft)
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 large bananas (thinly sliced)
  • ¼ cup heavy cream (slightly warmed)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat milk until lukewarm. Remove from heat and stir in unsalted butter until melted.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine granulated sugar, instant yeast, salt, mashed banana, and milk mixture.
  3. Gradually add all-purpose flour while mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for about an hour or until doubled.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the dough into a rectangle about half an inch thick.
  7. Spread very soft unsalted butter over the dough's surface and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Add thinly sliced bananas on top before rolling the dough tightly into a log shape and cutting into equal pieces.
  9. Place cut rolls in a greased baking dish and pour slightly warmed heavy cream over them before baking for approximately 35 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. For frosting, beat softened cream cheese and unsalted butter together until fluffy; gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
  11. Drizzle cream cheese frosting over warm rolls before serving.
